Abandon defenses

Still high from the Phantom of the Opera experience, two days after watching it! I read somewhere that in psychoanalysis, beasts in literature represent the subconscious urges of women. Also I remember back in college I read a review of this piece. It said in the book that the Phantom symbolizes Kristin's quest of following her thespian career as opposed to Raoul, the symbol of family, domestic life (husband). It was really a hard choice for Kristin, but we see in the end what Kristin values more.

With this in mind, cannot help but think about the comparison of Beast (as in Beauty and the Beast) and Phantom. Beast is like a little domesticated prince who is waiting for true love's kiss before the petal of magical rose detach from the stem, while the Phantom is like a sexy, wild man who knows how to manipulate and to seduce. The Phantom is a mature man who knows his stuff.

Mmm, I cannot help but be mesmerized by the Phantom, yes he is wild but he is passionate as well. Giving all his energy and time in composing opera. He is very committed to his craft. Anyways, a revelation, I like the Phantom more than Raoul ^^

I can still hear him singing the music of the night.
